SASKATOON - Saskatoon Police say a track of fresh footprints in the snow helped them find a woman trying to hide from them after she allegedly rammed a police vehicle and then attempted to flee Thursday night.
On Jan. 19, 2023, at around 10 p.m., Saskatoon Police officers patrolling in the area of 22nd Street West and Avenue H North attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle idling in a nearby parking lot.
When police activated their emergency equipment, the suspect allegedly vehicle rammed the police vehicle before fleeing at a high rate of speed. In the interest of public safety, officers discontinued the pursuit as the suspect vehicle continued to be driven dangerously.
A short time later, officers located the suspect vehicle unoccupied in the ditch near Highway 11 and Waneskewin Road. Following a track of fresh footprints in the snow, officers found the suspect attempting to hide nearby.
As a result, a 39-year-old woman from La Ronge was arrested and charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle, operating a vehicle СÀ¶ÊÓƵ pursued by police, and two counts of assaulting a police officer. She was also wanted on outstanding warrants from the Prince Albert Police Service.
She appeared in Prince Albert Provincial Court Friday and is now scheduled to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Jan. 24.
