The Schutte Lake ice fishing derby was a huge success,” said Lorelie Delawski, an organizer. The Endeavour Skating Arena hosted the derby on March 12.
“This is the first time we have hosted a fishing derby and it went over well,” she said. “Even though nobody caught any fish it still was a lot of fun.
“It is definitely something we want to do next year,” said Delawski.
There we 40 pre-drilled holes sold with approximately 70 individuals in attendance.
The fishing derby was a fundraiser for the skating rink.
“We wanted to say thank you to all the familys who supported us and helped make our first derby a successful day,” said Delawski.
Prize winners included: Darayl Chamakese of Kelvington, first place, and Emmit Arneson of Preeceville, second.
“We had a really young turnout so Wes Arneson, of Preeceville was our oldest fisherman present and Alaric Lippert of Pelly was the youngest.
