First book written by Kamsack author and illustrator

A highlight of the annual Christmas in November sale of crafts and products handled by home-based businesses at the OCC Hall on November 19 is sure to be the display of copies of a children鈥檚 book that will be having its Kamsack debut.

聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 A highlight of the annual Christmas in November sale of crafts and products handled by home-based businesses at the OCC Hall on November 19 is sure to be the display of copies of a children鈥檚 book that will be having its Kamsack debut.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Marilyn Lachambre of Kamsack, who expects to receive thousands of copies of her book entitled Angel Blessings by November 10, will be selling copies at the Christmas in November.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The book, which is 32 pages in length, includes 26 vivid water colour illustrations, also by Lachambre, and is printed in full colour.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Lachambre, who said that all through her life she has doodled and written pieces, it was not until the birth of her first grandchild that she decided to write a book.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淚 had been reading books to my grandchildren and I began making up stories and songs,鈥 she said last week, clutching a printer鈥檚 proof of the book.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 She explained that she had first contacted a self-publisher, but it was not until a year later that she had received a response. She wrote the story in 2015, and then began to illustrate it.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淚 spent this spring and summer painting the pictures,鈥 she said, adding that she has been working with Heather Nickel of Your Nickel鈥檚 Worth Publications of Regina and Freisen鈥檚 Printing in Altona, Man.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 A story concerning signs and messages from the angels, which makes it an ideal Christmas gift, the book was deemed suitable for children aged three to eight by one publisher, and for those aged three to five, by a bookseller, she said.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 She is selling copies at $19.95 each and is working on creating a webpage through which she would be better able to handle the sales.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Prior to the Kamsack debut at Christmas in November, Lachambre has agreed to attend an author鈥檚 book-signing event at the Coles bookstore in Yorkton on November 13.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淥ne small book to spread hope and love for all,鈥 a reviewer has said of the book.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Asked if she鈥檚 started thinking about a second book, Lachambre said 鈥渟orta, kinda, but I have to market this one first.鈥

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 She said that copies of the book will be carried at Buck鈥檚 Dollar Store in Kamsack and she plans to do another book signing event in Regina sometimes during November, but that date and place are yet to be determined.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The Christmas in November event, which is a fundraiser for the Kamsack Playhouse Theatre, will include a range of crafts and products handled by home-based businesses including jewelry, giftware, candies, spices, knitting, woodworking, baking, soaps and lotions, makeup and much more.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淒o your Christmas shopping early and support the theatre,鈥 says information from organizers. The event includes lunch with homemade soups, sandwiches, desserts and coffee.
