Jim Talbot celebrated his birthday a day early by buying coffee and tarts for eighteen people at coffee row on Sat., April 2. Fourteen coffee goers were happy again on Tuesday when Dennis Toth treated everyone to coffee, homemade cookies and scuffles for his birthday which is on April 6. Hope you both had a great birthday followed by a happy, healthy year ahead.
Several Dubuc ladies attended the Ladies Nite Out held by the Morris Lodge FunRaisers in Bangor Hall on April 8. The evening was organized by a very small group of volunteers trying to promote fun and, at the same time, raise some money to be used toward the comfort and enjoyment of the residents of the Lodge. You deserve a big bouquet for your hard work!
John Talbot, who has been in the Yorkton and District Nursing Home since December, has now moved into the Centennial Care Home in Esterhazy.
Marie (Simle) Wilson, who has been a resident in the Centennial Care Home for a number of years, has recently moved to the Langenburg Centennial Care Home to join her sisters, Olive McAlpine and Martha Simle (her twin), who were already permanent residents there.
Susan and Leon Powell arrived back home from Mexico and USA. They were especially welcomed at coffee row on Sat., April 9 as they brought treats and bought coffee for everyone in attendance. One of the best turnouts all winter. Christopher Simle from Red Deer, AB. was a recent weekend visitor with his grandparents, Len and Gladys Simle.
Vivian, Ashalee and Riley Talbot accompanied by Chris Topliss of Yorkton motored to Regina on Sunday for a birthday party in honor of Hudson (12) and Kareena (8), children of Mervin and Dawn Andersen. The water was up to the #1 highway in several places but they beat the flooding and highway closures that happened on Tuesday.
April's potluck had an aura of Easter with ham & scalloped potatoes accompanied by many assorted dishes. The hall was decorated and spring was in the air. Two dozen people enjoyed the evening meal. Welcome visitors from out of town were Darlene and Stuart Stevenson of Stockholm. Gladys Smith won the door prize of Saskatoon Berry Jam and Darlene Yuke was the lucky 50-50 winner.
Lawrence and Doris Parker and daughter, Marilyn, of Regina, braved the flooded highway #1 last week to drive to Dubuc. They have sold their former home in the village and made a last trip before the new owner moved in.
Pat and Charles Johnson of Kamsack, Mel and Carol Anderson from Kipling, Vera Madison of Benito and local family and friends visited with Ervin Johnson for his birthday April 11.
Audrey Nielsen, Melba McAlpine and Gladys Simle attended a 89th birthday party for twin sisters, Martha Simle and Marie Wilson at the Langenburg Care Home. The party was hosted by their niece, Sharon (McAlpine) Tabbernor of Spy Hill. Olive McAlpine also enjoyed the party for her sisters and a visit with folks from Dubuc.
