聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 Saskatchewan producers made good progress with harvest, thanks to a week of primarily dry weather and 32 per cent of the crop has been combined with 38 per cent swathed or ready to straight-cut, according to Saskatchewan Agriculture鈥檚 Weekly Crop Report for August 30 to September 5. 聽
聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 The percentage of crop that has been harvested is ahead of the five year (2011-2015) average of 28 per cent combined, which is a good sign for farmers.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 By region, harvest is furthest advanced in the southeast, where producers had 48 per cent of the crop in the bin compared to 42 per cent in the southwest, 24 per cent in the east-central region, 25 per cent in the west-central region, 22 per cent in the northeast and 14 per cent in the northwest.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 By crop, 94 per cent of winter wheat, 85 per cent of field peas, 65 per cent of lentils, 26 per cent of durum, 23 per cent of spring wheat and 17 per cent of canola have been combined.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Yields are estimated to be above average for most crops, with the exception of lentils. 聽
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The dry days that led to the progress have now been replaced by rain showers, which rolled through the province again on the weekend and have continued into this week.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Precipitation amounts ranged from nil to 30 mm in the Raymore area. 聽Areas in the west-central, northwestern and northeastern regions did not receive as much precipitation as the rest of the province, but the Lampman area reported receiving 24 mm, Langenburg 19 mm, Glenavon and Debden 12 mm and Sonningdale eight mm.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Provincially, cropland topsoil moisture is rated as mostly good at 84 per cent of farmers saying the soil is adequate. Ten per cent of farmers say they have a surplus of soil moisture, but five per cent are short and one per cent are very short. Hay land and pasture topsoil moisture is rated as four per cent surplus, 85 per cent adequate, nine per cent short and two per cent very short.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Crops are 小蓝视频 downgraded because of weathering and due to the higher levels of disease compared to other years. Producers are watching for sclerotinia in canola, fusarium in wheat and durum, and bleaching of cereals and pulses, while high winds blew some canola swaths around in the southeast.
