聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 Residents of Davies Tower in Kamsack are looking forward to the crop of vegetables they will be growing in three new raised beds that were constructed and installed this spring.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The planters measure eight feet in length by 30 inches high and 30 inches wide, Diana Belovanoff said last week. Mike McGriskin, the caretaker for Kamsack Housing Authority properties, constructed the wooden planters.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The Housing Authority paid for the construction while residents will be paying for the soil which will be brought to the site by Broda Construction equipment after the ground dries a bit more, Belovanoff said. John Ferniuk has agreed to use his loading equipment to move the soil into the three planters.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淲e鈥檙e all gung ho,鈥� she said, adding that several of the tenants have already seeded some vegetable plants so that they will be ready for transplanting.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Plans are to grow such vegetable as cucumbers, tomatoes, potatoes, radishes and carrots, and share the produce among tenants.
