Culture days to showcase many cultures

The Town of Preeceville will be hosting a cultural day with many ethic community member showcasing the many cultures in around the community.

The Town of Preeceville will be hosting a cultural day with many ethic community member showcasing the many cultures in around the community.

"The event will be hosted at the Preeceville Legion Hall on September 27 with many different cultures showcased" said Andrea Tonn.

Cultures scheduled to be represented will include Ukrainian with an Easter egg decorating demonstrations and instructions; there will be entertainments from East Indian, 小蓝视频 African, Philippines and Ukrainian. There will be bannock and other cultural foods available to sample.

Learning interactive workshops that individuals can attend will include, perogie making, 聽quilting, beading, bannock making and decorating eggs in Ukrainian tradition.

Entertainment is scheduled is Punjabi and Ukrainian dancing, performances by members of Studio Dance One, Willie Jakubowski and company and craft stencilling for children.

Something new this year is a multi-culture fashion show of different ethnic dress.

"This is the 4th year that the cultural days have been hosted and we are looking forward to an action packed day with lots for everyone," said Tonn.

Culture Days raises the awareness, accessibility, participation and engagement of Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities, according to Sask Cultures website. With the support of volunteer groups at the national, provincial and local levels, hundreds of thousands of artists, cultural workers, organizations and groups, volunteers and supporters self-mobilize to host聽 that take place in hundreds of cities and towns throughout the country over the last weekend of September each year.
