The Town of Preeceville will be hosting a cultural day with many ethnic community members showcasing the many cultures in and around the community.
"The event will be hosted at the Preeceville Legion Hall on September 28 with many different cultures showcased" said Andrea Tonn, Town of Preeceville recreation director.
Cultures scheduled to be represented will include Ukrainian with an Easter egg decorating demonstrations and instructions; there will be entertainments from India, 小蓝视频 Africa, the Philippines and the Ukraine. There will be bannock and other cultural foods available to sample.
Learning interactive workshops that individuals can attend will include, pickling techniques, quilting, beading and pattern dancing.
Entertainment is scheduled is Punjabi dancing, a fashion show, Aboriginal storytelling, storytelling by local authors, Ukrainian dancing, Studio Dance One and demonstrations of Philippine dancing and Aboriginal dancing
Willie and Company will provide musical entertainment.
"This is the third year that the cultural days have been hosted and we are looking forward to an action-packed day with lots for everyone," said Tonn.
Culture Days raises the awareness, accessibility, participation and engagement of Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities, according to the Sask Cultures website. With the support of volunteer groups at the national, provincial and local levels, hundreds of thousands of artists, cultural workers, organizations and groups, volunteers and supporters self-mobilize to host聽free participatory public activities that take place in hundreds of cities and towns throughout the country over the last weekend of September each year.
