When making the presentation to Ross Fisher, executive director of the Health Foundation, Linda Osachoff, CEO of Crossroads, made note that the presentation was made during celebrations for Credit Union Days, which were taking place at the Crossroads Credit Union branch in Canora.聽

鈥淲e thought it was fitting to make this donation today, on International Credit Union Day, as today we recognize and celebrate the role that financial cooperatives play in improving the communities they serve and the lives of their members the world over,鈥 said Osachoff. 鈥淐redit unions are unique because they are not-for-profit, democratically controlled, member-owned co-operatives. Credit Unions also, as part of our mandate, work to positively impact their communities to better serve their members.

鈥淓very year we budget to donate a dedicated portion of our pre-tax profit back to our communities, and we actively encourage and make time available to our staff to participate in community activity,鈥 she said. 鈥淭hat is a big part of what separates Credit Unions from other financial institutions. Built into our purpose is a drive to invest back into our communities, to actively help to make our communities better places to live, work and raise a family.鈥

鈥淭hat鈥檚 why making a donation to help The Health Foundation buy the new CT scanner fits so well with the charitable goals of Crossroads Credit Union; having good health care available locally is a part of what makes a community strong and a good place to live, work and raise a family,鈥 said George Stinka, president of Crossroads Credit Union board.

It is about improving our regional community. Buying the new CT scanner will assist with that, because it will improve the diagnostic services available to everyone in this area.鈥
