Lt. Darren Paul became the commanding officer of the Canora Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Cadets on January 20.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 He succeeds Trish Anderson, who has served for eight years with the squadron.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Lt. Patricia Mitchell of the Air Cadets Organization (ACO) for Saskatoon East inspected the squadron before the official change of command. Anderson was given one last chance to lead her squadron on a march past. After the change in command, Paul led the squadron is a similar march past. In both cases, Mitchell was subject of the cadets鈥 salute. She was joined by Milton Glaicar of the Air Cadet League.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Speaking to the cadets and parents, Anderson said she loved every minute of the eight years she spent with the Canora squadron, but she knows she couldn鈥檛 have done it without so much help from her fellow officers and the parents. Because of a change in employment, she said could no longer find the time to command the squadron.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 On behalf of the parents鈥 committee, Kim O鈥機onnor presented a gift of appreciation to Anderson, saying: 鈥淭hank you for all you have done for our kids.鈥
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Paul joined the Canora squadron about a year ago. He thanked the parents and his fellow officers for the trust they placed in him to become the commanding officer.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Glaicar addressed the cadets saying that summer programs are coming up quickly and they should make their applications.
