Denise McGonigal of Norquay welcomes everyone to come for a cup of coffee or specialty tea at The Coffee Lounge located in the Sturgis laundromat building. She recently opened the quaint coffee shop on January 5 and is located in the Suds N' Such Sturgis laundromat.

The original idea for the coffee shop came about when McGonigal purchased the laundromat in 2017.

听"There was a little space on the side that I wanted to fill with something and a quaint coffee shop was a perfect fit," said McGonigal.

The coffee shop offers different flavoured coffees, lattes, hot chocolates, bagels, pies, muffins and toast in a tranquil atmosphere. There are also numerous consignment items from local artists, cards and miscellaneous gift items available for purchase.

In the future, McGonigal will increase her product line to offer Orange Julius, smoothies, slushies and tailor-made popcorn. In the summer, she is hopeful to build an outdoor patio to add an outdoor appeal for her customers.

McGonigal currently resides in Norquay but before making Norquay her home she had grown up in the Oxbow area where her family farmed. She attended university after high school but discovered school was not what interested her. She got a job and moved to the west coast where she and her husband raised four children. She had always longed to come back to Saskatchewan where she had always felt at home.

She looked all over Saskatchewan and in 2010 she purchased a home in Norquay, moved in and in 2011 she started working as relief worker at Canada Post for Kamsack, Preeceville and Norquay locations.

"I am looking forward to meeting everyone and would like to encourage everyone to stop by and have a cup of coffee and a visit," she said.
