Church Mouse sale huge success in Endeavour

The St. James Anglican Church congregation of Endeavour held its annual Church Mouse sale at the Endeavour Skating Arena on June 10, 11 and 12. “The annual event is very time consuming,” said Kathy Ambrose, one of the co-ordinators for the event.

The St. James Anglican Church congregation of Endeavour held its annual Church Mouse sale at the Endeavour Skating Arena on June 10, 11 and 12.

“The annual event is very time consuming,” said Kathy Ambrose, one of the co-ordinators for the event. “With the numerous donations we get each year, the event just keeps getting bigger and bigger.

“We are extremely grateful to the community for all the support residents have given us,” Ambrose said. “We collect articles beginning in April after the ice goes out of the rink. This year the event has absolutely exploded with a lot more articles.”

Before the rope was dropped and shoppers were allowed to purchase anything, the sale kicked off on Friday with a prayer by Rev. Jessica Latshaw. The numerous items included clothing, products for babies, toys, books, tools, plants, jewelry, appliances, furniture, antiques, Christmas decorations, puzzles, stuffed animals, purses and miscellaneous items. The bake sale and silent auction tables were popular.

“The bake sale and silent auction did very well this year and we also had an increase in furniture,” said Ambrose.

As well as the baking and produce items, the congregation barbecued beef hamburgers, and sold refreshments and pies.

“Leftover items from the sale will be distributed at Saskatoon for a school and Salvation Army or Value Village,” said Ambrose.

On Sunday, the Lintlaw/Endeavour parish held a worship service at the St. James Anglican Church in Endeavour. An open house was held at the recreation centre on Sunday following the service, where individuals took advantage of items at bargain prices.
