The Town of Preeceville is trying to keep Christmas as normal as possible despite the COVID-19 restrictions placed upon communities by the Saskatchewan Government.
The festivities kicks off on December 6 with a Skate with Santa. The skate will take place outdoors at the Annie Laurie Lake with pre-registration 小蓝视频 mandatory for an one-hour time slot.
On December 12, a fun Smoke Off COVID Christmas will be held featuring a competition where participants will battle it out to determine who can smoke the best ribs. The winner will receive $500 and will be voted on by individuals who purchased a meal that featured the selected ribs.
"In the past, the Town would usually host a Christmas party with a variety of entertainment," said Andrea Tonn, recreation director. "This year things have changed as to how we do things. The Preeceville Community Hall board would like to bring Christmas to you. This is an excellent opportunity to treat your staff or yourself to a great meal and entertainment while still following the public health guidelines. The entertainment this year is a virtual workshop that teaches bartending skills, creating cocktails and learning to master the art of bottle flipping," she said.
The baby back ribs meal is part of the Smoker competition that will feature the favourite ribs voted on by individuals who had purchased a supper ticket.
There will also be a Santa parade on December 17 with Santa riding or walking down main street in Preeceville. Spectators are asked to park along the main street to greet or wave at Santa. There will be an opportunity to have a social distancing photograph with Santa at the south end of main street after he concludes the parade.
There is also a Christmas lighting event that has community members writing a short essay why they think that the outside of their home or someone else's home should be decorated for free by the Preeceville Recreation Board. The winning essay will determine which house in Preeceville will be decorated.
