聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 The 17th Annual Charity Golf Classic, held at the Deer Park Golf Course in Yorkton on June 9, was a huge success with golfers and sponsors raising enough money to buy 12 pieces of medical equipment for eight facilities in the region.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The equipment will go into facilities in Canora, Kamsack, Foam Lake, Preeceville, Esterhazy, Melville and Yorkton.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The nursing departments at the Preeceville and District Health Centre, the Kamsack District Nursing Home, the Norquay Health Centre and Canora Gateway Lodge are each to receive a Broda chair. The other equipment will go to facilities at Esterhazy, Foam Lake and Yorkton.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淲e have to thank our presenting sponsors who did a great job organizing the tournament this year,鈥 said Ross Fisher of The Health Foundation. 鈥淭he presenting sponsors each donate $3,000 and also help organize the Charity Golf Classic.鈥
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The presenting sponsors are: Mosaic Potash Esterhazy, SaskTel, Louis Dreyfus Company and the Credit Unions of East Central Saskatchewan.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淲e like how this tournament is run, with the proceeds going to medical facilities throughout the health region, where many of our clients, customers and employees live,鈥 said Darryl Flunder, procurement manager for Louis Dreyfus. 鈥淗ealth care is a good cause; eventually everyone will use the health care system, and when we need it we want good facilities and equipment.鈥
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The business community provides great support for the charity Golf Classic with 48 businesses providing sponsorship, Fisher said. Sponsorship covers the cost of the tournament so that 100 per cent of the funds raised by golfers can be used to buy medical equipment.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The top three fundraisers this year were: Ken Chyz, who raised $6,590 and won a $3,000 gift card; Bernie Trischuk, who raised $5,570 and won a $1,000 gift card; and,
Kim Sapara, who raised $5,200 and won a $500 gift card.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The top fundraising team was comprised of Kris Sapara, Kim Sapara, Dave Dutcheshen, and Shawn Veroba, who raised a total of $14,050.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The Health Foundation extends a very sincere thank you to each and every golfer for their tremendous effort to raise funds to improve health care in our communities.
