The holidays were a busy time in for the Canora / Sturgis RCMP who responded to 146 complaints/calls for service between December 10 and December 31.
Some of the calls the RCMP responded too included Robbery, Assaults, Impaired Driving, Traffic Collisions, Mischiefs, Fraud and well as Break and Enters. The RCMP have outlined several calls below for the publics information as well as assistance in solving. Barn Fire
Between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. on the morning of December 13 in the RM of Invermay a barn located in an old yard site was lit on fire and burnt to the ground. Although the yard site was not currently used the barn held significant value to the property owners.
Good Lake shop break-in
At 5:15 a.m. on December 15 the RM of Good Lake shop was broken into when the front door was forced open. It appears that the suspect was scared off by a triggered loud alarm. However, the suspect was able to steal a grease gun before departing.
Rama truck theft
Between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. on December 17 a 2004 grey Dodge 1500 pick-up truck with a lift kit and big tires bearing Saskatchewan Licence Plate 905KYG was stolen from a residence in Rama.听 A firearm was left in the vehicle and was also stolen. The RCMP would like to remind the public to not leave firearms in vehicles unattended. This vehicle has since been recovered near Esterhazy and the investigation is continuing with charges pending.
Canora hit and run
RCMP responded to a hit and run on a van in the Canora Co-op parking lot. The person responsible was located by the Canora RCMP and is currently 小蓝视频 investigated for the offence.听
Canora theft
RCMP responded to a theft that occurred from the Canora pharmacy. With assistance from store employees and video surveillance the suspect was identified, located and has now been charged accordingly with theft.
Canora surprise visitor
Members of a local Canora family was surprised when an intoxicated male accidently wondered into their home by mistake when he thought it was his own residence, due to his state of intoxication. This is a good reminder for all of us to lock our doors.

An intoxicated male was arrested in public just outside Sturgis when he was acting belligerent and having difficulty standing up. The male was taken to Yorkton Hospital and then taken somewhere warm to stay.
Sturgis vandalism
On December 20 the back window of a vehicle was smashed in while parked in staff parking at the Sturgis School parking lot. Suspects have been identified and RCMP are investigating.
Lund Hotel robbery
On the evening December 24 a Caucasian male entered the Lund Hotel in Canora wearing a balaclava. The male sat down and played VLT鈥檚. The unknown male got up and put a knife to the bartender and demanded money. The male then ran out of the bar with a small amount of money. Canora RCMP with assistance from Yorkton RCMP Identification Services were able to collect very good evidence from the scene of the crime and this incident is still under investigation.
Canora senior robbed
On December 28 Canora RCMP responded to the residence of a 96-year-old male. The male advised that he had been robbed of money while he was sleeping. The culprit was able to steal a large amount of cash in $100 bill denominations.听 If anyone is aware of anyone that has been carrying an unexplained large amount of cash around in Canora, they are asked to please let the Canora RCMP know. This is also a reminder for everyone to not keep large amounts of money on their person or at their residence.
Canora thief caught
On the night of December 30 a vehicle was broken into in Canora. The owner of the car was able to catch the culprit in the act and quickly call the RCMP.听 The culprit was then arrested by RCMP, taken into custody and has been charged accordingly.
Impaired driver caught
On December 31 a grey SUV crashed through a cement barricade and in through a backyard fence behind the Coop Grocery store in Canora. The driver of the vehicle left the scene and then was picked up.听 Canora RCMP were able to track the individual down at his residence where he was arrested and charged for Impaired Operation of a motor vehicle as well as Mischief.
