The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 30 calls for service over the reporting period, some of which included four traffic offences, two mischiefs, two traffic collisions, one impaired driving offence, one assault, one fraud, and one theft.
On April 8 the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint in Buchanan of an adult male driving his truck on town property and damaging the grass. This was reported to the town of Buchanan to see if they wished to pursue damages or charges against the subject responsible.
On the afternoon of April 10 the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were called to a disturbance at a residence in Canora. A male subject was intoxicated and arrested for disturbing the peace and was released from RCMP cells once he was sober.
Early in the morning on April 11 the Canora/Sturgis RCMP along with Kamsack RCMP were called out to a vehicle that hit the ditch neat Mikado on Highway No. 5. RCMP attended the scene and arrested the driver for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. Four other occupants in the vehicle were all charged with open alcohol in a vehicle. No one was injured in this collision.
On April 12 the Canora/Sturgis RCMP completed a compliance check on an adult male in Preeceville who had been released early from a correctional facility on a temporary absence permit. The adult male was found intoxicated and breaching his absence permit and has been returned to the correctional facility to finish the remaining portion of his sentence.听
On April 13 at approximately 10:10 p.m., an unknown male (photo attached) entered a Canora Hotel offsale store carrying an axe. The male used the axe to smash a glass case and steal several bottles of liquor before leaving the business. He did not request any money or threaten any employees during the theft.听
The male is described as 小蓝视频 in his mid-20s to 30s, Caucasian, with a medium build. At the time of the theft, he was wearing a blue plaid jacket with grey and black patterns, a grey hooded sweatshirt, a red scarf and pants with a stripe on the side. The male entered the business approximately 30 minutes prior to the theft but did not make any purchases or talk to any employees. Canora RCMP responded immediately but were unable to locate the individual. Kamsack RCMP, Yorkton Forensic Identification Services, and Yorkton Police Dog Services assisted with the investigation. The investigation is still ongoing. We will provide further information when it becomes available. On April 14 the Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a complaint of an adult male breaching his probation order by 小蓝视频 at a property in the RM of Hazel Dell. The adult male left the property prior to RCMP arrival but was later arrested and released with new charges.
The Canora/ Sturgis RCMP would like to thank Warren Thompson, Leon Still, and Murray Townsend for rescuing RCMP members who got their police vehicle stuck after driving down a wrong road north of Preeceville.
