The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 29 calls during the week of March 25 to March 31, some of which included: one traffic accident, five traffic offenses, five other provincial statutes, one firearms act incident, one disturbing the peace, one drug enforcement, one assault, one mischief, one break and enter, one fraud, and four other incidents.
Threats
On March 25, Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint of uttered threats that occurred in the Preeceville area. Police continue to investigate.
Bar crasher
Canora/Sturgis RCMP were called on March 27 to a local bar in Canora to assist with an unwanted patron. Staff were able to deal with the matter and the subject left without incident prior to police attending.
Moving train
Canora Detachment received a call about sparks coming from a moving train outside of Canora on March 27. Canora/Sturgis RCMP called CN Rail to report the safety concern.
Communication breakdown
On March 28, Canora Detachment received a complaint of break and enter to a residence in Canora. Police followed up the complainant and learned there was a miscommunication with a former tenant of the rental property and that no crime was committed.
Laying down
Canora/Sturgis RCMP were advised on March 28 of a subject laying down on a street corner in Canora. Police located the subject inside a residence and determined alcohol was a contributing factor and that there was no medical emergency.
Alcohol a factor
Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a complaint of a disturbance inside a residence in Canora on March 30. Police attended and removed an intoxicated subject from the home.
Take a hike
On March 30, a resident of Sturgis received a phone call from British Columbia advising they won a brand new Mercedes Benz. The complainant promptly told the fraudster where to go and hung up the phone.
