The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 36 calls during the week of February 11 to February 18, some of which included: 14 traffic offences, two other provincial statutes, two other criminal code incidents, one drug trafficking, three harassments, one assault, one theft under $5,000, one possession of stolen goods, two frauds, two break and enters, and seven other incidents.
Not getting along
On February 11, Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a complaint of a male and female yelling outside a residence in Canora. Police attended and were able to mediate the situation.
Texting harassment
Canora Detachment received a complaint on February 13 of harassing text messages from a complainant in Canora. The subject of complaint was spoken to and warned to stop the harassing messages. Unwanted text messages, phone calls and other forms of communication is against the law and can lead to Harassing Communications and Criminal Harassment charges under the Criminal Code of Canada.
Intoxicated intrusion
Canora/Sturgis RCMP were called to assist with an unwanted intoxicated person inside a residence in the RM of Clayton on February 13. Police attended and were able to resolve this issue without making an arrest.
Hospital disagreement
On February 14, 2021 Canora Detachment received a 911 complaint to assist a patient at a medical facility in the Canora area. The complainant advised they did not agree with their current medical diagnoses and wanted police to intervene and have him sprung from his current detention. The complainant was told police do not intervene with medical diagnoses and to follow up with the Saskatchewan Health Authority.
Suspect scared off
Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a report on February 15 of an attempted break and enter at a residence on Main Street in Canora. An unknown male walked up to the residence and started checking the door knob. The male was scared away by the homeowner. Suspect is described as a tall male that drove away in a dark colored luxury sedan.
Residential theft
On February 15 Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a complaint of a break and enter that occurred at a residence in Canora over the weekend. Numerous items were taken which included: NHL jerseys, power tools and a drone.听
Unwanted guest
Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a call of an unwanted guest in Canora on February 15. Prior to police arrival the complainant was able to convince the unwanted guest to leave.听

Alcohol-fueled disturbance
Canora/Sturgis RCMP were called out to a disturbance at a Canora residence on February 16.听 Police attended and removed two occupants of the residence to prevent further continuation of the offence. Alcohol was a factor.
Snowmobile close call
On February 16, Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a report of a snowmobile collision in Sturgis by the CN tracks. Sturgis Fire Department attended and located a male that was trapped under his snowmobile. The male was taken to Yorkton Hospital with non life threatening injuries. Canora/Sturgis RCMP continue to investigate the collision with the assistance of CN Police.
Missing drugs
Canora/Sturgis RCMP were called to a local business in Preeceville on February 16. A small bag of illicit drugs had fallen out of a customer鈥檚 pocket and left behind on the floor. If you are missing your drugs you can contact the Canora RCMP detachment at 306-563-4700 to claim your property.听
