The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 18 calls during the week of February 4 to February 11, some of which included: one traffic accident, three traffic offenses, one municipal bylaw, one impaired driver, four other provincial statutes, one other criminal code incident, two uttering threats/harassment and five other incidents.
Cold cat
On February 4, Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint that a vehicle had stopped on Highway No. 5 by Canora and let a cat out of the vehicle. The caller was concerned for the well小蓝视频 of the cat due to extremely cold temperatures. Police attended and searched for the cat but where unable to locate it. Police continue to investigate.
Vehicle rollover
Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a single vehicle rollover on February 4 on Highway No. 47 near Buchanan. A Dodge Ram truck pulling a trailer lost control around a curve due to icy road conditions. No injuries were reported and it was determined that alcohol was not a factor.
Hospital hang-up
Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a 911 hang-up from the Preeceville Hospital on February 4. RCMP spoke with hospital staff and determined there was no emergency.
Cold alarm
On February 5, Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to an alarm at a business on Railway Avenue in Canora. RCMP attended and determined there was no emergency and it was a false alarm most likely caused by the cold temperatures.
Another cold alarm
Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to an alarm on February 6 on First Avenue West in Canora. RCMP attended along with the key holder and determined there to be no emergency. This false alarm was believed to have been caused by the high winds and cold temperature.
Mad at winter?
Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a complaint on February 6 of a suspicious person on Highway No. 5 west towards Buchanan. An unknown male was reported to have been yelling, waiving his arms and punching a snow bank. RCMP attended and were unable to locate this person.
Impaired complaint
Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint of an impaired driver in a black car near the Subway in Canora on February 6. The driver was believed to have been heading southbound on Highway No. 9. RCMP made patrols and were unable to locate the vehicle.
Dangerous driving
On February 9, Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint of a black Chevrolet truck that had passed another vehicle on a double solid line on Highway No. 9 near Ebenezer. RCMP made patrols on the highway and were unable to locate the vehicle.
Effects of alcohol
Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a 911 complaint on February 9 in the RM of Good lake.听 The caller told police he was going to let his girlfriend walk home and then hung up the phone.听 Police followed up with the complaint and determined alcohol was a factor.
