The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 47 calls during the week of January 7 to January 14, some of which included: one traffic accident, 24 traffic offences, one flight from police, one impaired driver, five other provincial statutes, one careless use of a firearm, three break and enters, one assault, one possession of methamphetamine, and nine other incidents.
Canora disturbance
On January 8, Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to an intoxicated person causing a disturbance outside a residence in the Main Street area of Canora. Police located the subject and were able to resolve this issue without making an arrest.
High speed chase
Canora/Sturgis RCMP members were patrolling in Canora on January 10 when a grey Ford F-150 was spotted north of town without working taillights. Police attempted to stop the vehicle but it fled at a high rate of speed at approximately 150 km/h (93 mph) and turned eastbound on Highway No. 754. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to please contact the Canora RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
Preeceville gunshots
Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint of eight gunshots 小蓝视频 heard south of Preeceville on January 10. The subsequent investigation led police to question a local male about discharging fireworks from his truck.
Break and enter
On January 10, Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint in Preeceville that a break and enter was in progress at the complainant鈥檚 residence. Police attended and were able to confirm no break and enter happened or was attempted.
Canora assault
Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded on January 12 to a report of an assault in Canora.听 Police attended and arrested a male and female for assault. Both were charged and released on conditions.
Drugs seized
Canora/Sturgis RCMP observed a dark Chevrolet truck travelling northbound on Norway Road in Canora on January 12, swerving all over the road with its hazard lights on. A traffic stop was initiated with the truck. The driver was found to have a suspended driver鈥檚 licence and was subsequently detained for an impaired operation investigation. A search of the male resulted in the seizure of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and some needles.
Icy collision
On January 13, Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint on Highway No. 5 near Rama of a semi sliding off the road then 小蓝视频 sideswiped by a car which couldn鈥檛 stop on the icy highway.听
Multi-vehicle incident
Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint of approximately 40 vehicles stuck on Highway No. 9 at the Amsterdam turnoff on January 13. The icy road conditions caused a semi truck to jackknife on the road, blocking traffic. Police attended and requested the assistance of the Canora Fire Department to help with traffic control and a temporary detour. Saskatchewan Highways Department was able to salt the highway allowing traffic to move again after a few hours. There were no injuries or serious damage to any vehicle during this icy highway event.
