The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 15 calls during the week of December 10 to December 16, some of which included: four traffic accidents, four traffic offences, one impaired driver, two other provincial statutes, one assault and three other incidents.
Highway collision
On December 10, Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a complaint of a two vehicle collision on Highway No. 9 by Sturgis. Police attended and determined the driver of a Dodge truck attempted to pass a Ford minivan which was slowing down to make a turn on a solid yellow line. The minivan driver subsequently turned left into the passing Dodge truck causing a collision. There were no injuries. The driver of the truck was charged under the Traffic Safety Act for crossing a solid line.
Canora disturbance
Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a disturbance in Canora on December 12. Both parties were spoken to and a warning was given about consequences of poor behavioural choices.
Lost wallet returned
Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched on December 12 to a report of a found wallet on Railway Avenue in Canora. The owner was located and the wallet was returned.
COVID check
On December 12, Canora/Sturgis RCMP conducted a COVID compliance check in Stenen following a request from the Saskatchewan Health Authority. No infractions were found.
Car vs moose
Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a car versus moose collision south of Canora on Highway No. 9 on December 15. The driver was of the vehicle was not injured.
Suspended driver caught
Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint on December 15 of a possible impaired driver weaving in an out of traffic on Highway No. 9 coming into Canora. Police located the vehicle and determined the driver was sober but was a suspended driver. The driver was issued a ticket under the Traffic Safety Act for driving while suspended.
