The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 54 calls during the week of September 3 to September 10, some of which included: two traffic accidents, 19 traffic offences, three impaired driving, five other provincial statutes, one other federal statute, two other criminal code violations, three threats/harassments, one assault, one theft over $5,000, one theft under $5,000, four mischiefs, one fraud and 11 other violations.

Civil complaint

On September 3, Canora/Sturgis RCMP were called to a home in Preeceville to follow up with a stolen vehicle complaint. The investigation led police to the conclusion the theft of the vehicle was not criminal and the matter would have to be settled in civil court if an agreement could not be reached between both parties.

Search for young girl

On September 4, Canora/Sturgis RCMP assisted Yorkton Child and Family Services to locate a young girl at risk who may have been in Preeceville. Numerus homes were checked and it was determined the child no longer lived in the community.

Vehicle damage

Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint on September 6 that a vehicle parked on the side of the road on Highway No. 9 north of Canora was struck by another and was damaged and in the ditch. On September 9 this same vehicle was reported to have its tires, rims and other parts of the vehicle stolen while it had been parked in the ditch.

Property threats

Canora/Sturgis RCMP fielded a call from Sturgis on September 8 concerning threats to property over an ongoing civil matter. Police continue to investigate the matter.

Canora head injury

On September 8 at around 10 p.m. Canora/Sturgis RCMP members received a complaint of a male suffering from a serious head injury. Early information provided to police indicated that the male victim was hit over the head with a weapon following an altercation with another male on the 100 block of Second Avenue West in Canora. A suspect was located and arrested. As a result of the investigation Kevin Brass, 30, of Canora, has been charged with aggravated assault and uttering threats. Brass was remanded into custody and made his first court appearance on these charges on September 10 in Yorkton Provincial Court. The Canora/Sturgis RCMP with the assistance of the Yorkton Forensic Identification Section continue to investigate.

Pellet gun complaint

Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a firearms complaint in Canora on September 9. Police learned the 鈥渇irearms鈥 was actually a pellet gun which was 小蓝视频 used to scare off a problematic skunk.

Online threats

On September 9, a concerned parent called Canora/Sturgis RCMP about threats 小蓝视频 made over Snapchat. RCMP continues to investigate.

Fire investigation

Canora/Sturgis RCMP is requesting the assistance of the public to come forward with any information concerning the Good Spirit Lake fire that occurred during the May long weekend this year. Police have determined that two males were spotted at a farm yard just off Highway No. 229 by Tiny Road on May 14 at around 3 p.m. These two males are believed to have deliberately set fire to out buildings. They were driving an older model green car that was parked in the farm yard.
