The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to numerous calls for service from July 9 to July 16.
Suspicious car spotted
On July 10 the Canora/Sturgis RCMP advised the public via rural crime watch to be on the lookout in the RM of Invermay and surrounding area for a small black or grey Chevrolet Cruze or Chevrolet Spark. The car had been spotted entering rural yard sites and fleeing the yard once they were spotted or if someone was home. The vehicle appeared to be occupied by two male youths. Please contact the Canora/Sturgis RCMP if you see a vehicle that matches this description or have any information on this vehicle.
Joyriding in golf carts
On July 10 the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint about youths driving golf carts in the town of Endeavour. RCMP responded but at that time no golf carts were observed. Canora/Sturgis RCMP will be increasing patrols in the summer months in smaller communities and lake resorts to prevent people without drivers’ licences from driving ATVs, golf carts or any other powered vehicles on public roads or property. RCMP would like to remind the public that if caught, drivers could face fines and have their vehicles impounded.
Crystal Lake disturbance
On the night of July 10 and morning of July 11 mischief, vandalism and theft occurred in the resort of Crystal Lake. The suspect vehicle is believed to be grey and was occupied by at least two males. The vehicle possibly sustained damaged during the night and may be dented or scratched. Items stolen included a chrome 16-inch tire and rim that was stolen out of the back of a pickup truck.Â
Public drinking at Canora Beach
On the night of July 11 a complaint was received of a crowd of people drinking and socializing at Canora Beach at the public beach. Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to the complaint and stopped people from drinking in public. The Canora/Sturgis RCMP would like to remind everyone that it is illegal to drink alcohol in a public place and if caught they would face a fine of $250 and a fine of $360 if a minor is in possession of alcohol.
Moose collision
On July 12 the Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a vehicle collision with a moose just west of Canora. RCMP attended and the occupants were transported to Kamsack hospital as a precaution but were not seriously injured.
Noisy birthday party
On July 12 the Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a noise complaint on Parker Crescent in Canora. RCMP attended and discovered the noise was a result of a birthday party. Occupants of the house were very respectful and turned the music down and apologized for the noise.
Truck burnouts in Canora
On July 12 the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint on Parker Crescent of a green truck doing burnouts on the streets. RCMP attended but the young culprits were from Preeceville and had driven home.
Rolled ATV
On July 13 the Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a complaint of a male who had rolled his side-by-side ATV while rounding up cattle on his farm land. The driver sustained minor injuries but was able to get out of the vehicle.
Damaged truck in Canora
On July 14 Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint of a Red Dodge Ram 1500 truck СÀ¶ÊÓƵ keyed while parked on Coronation Drive in Canora.
Intoxicated Canora pedestrian
On July 15 the Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to an intoxicated female walking on Second Avenue West in Canora. The female was observed falling down multiple times and hitting her head on the ground. Prior to RCMP arriving the female was able to make it to her residence on Second Avenue where she received care from a sober family member.
Drunk driver hits ditch
On July 16 the Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a vehicle hitting the ditch near Mikado. Canora/Sturgis RCMP attended the scene and arrested the female driver for impaired operation. The female was taken to the Canora RCMP detachment where she provided samples of her breath which confirmed she was intoxicated. The female was then released from custody with a future court date and without her driver’s licence.
