Canora/Sturgis RCMP activity report

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 64 calls for service from June 25 to July 2, some of which included: 19 traffic offenses, 11 provincial statutes, three traffic accidents, five mischiefs, five uttering threats, one theft, and one impaired.

Dog at large

On June 25 the Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a complaint of a large German shepherd dog running at large in Amsterdam and managed to track down the person responsible for the dog. The dog was picked up with no further incident.

Passed out male complaint

On June 26 the Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a complaint of a male passed out in front of a residence on Main Street in Canora. Members attended and located the male. The male was not intoxicated and had just been working in his garden before he fell asleep outside. The male was helped into his residence where he could rest properly.

Preeceville racer

On June 26 the Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a complaint of a black late 90s pickup truck with a light bar on the cab ripping up the streets in Preeceville. Members attended but were unable to positively identify the vehicle in question. RCMP would like to remind the public to try and obtain licence plates or identify drivers if possible when reporting a traffic infraction to the RCMP.

Dairy Dip theft

On June 27 a theft occurred at the Dairy Dip in Preeceville. A large freezer was broken into and all the food and contents inside were taken.

Dead birds incident

On June 29 the Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a complaint at a business in Buchanan that had dead birds zip-tied to the front doors. At this time, it is not known why or who is responsible for leaving the birds at the business. Anyone with information about this or any other incident is asked to contact the Canora/ Sturgis RCMP by calling 306-563-4700.
