Playing to a 5-5 tie against the visiting Esterhazy White Flyers on Sunday, the Canora Peewee Cobras remain undefeated this season.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 It was the first time these two teams have met this year, said Kent Hembling, head coach. The Cobras have a record of six wins and three ties in the nine games played thus far.
Canora opened the scoring with Clay Sleeva's first of three goals of the afternoon, the coach said. Max Mydonick scored the Cobras鈥� other two goals.
鈥淓sterhazy was up to the challenge and would not go down without a fight,鈥� said Hembling. 鈥淐anora would take the lead five times in the game only to see Esterhazy erase their leads five times on route to a 5-5 draw.
鈥淚t was one of the most intense and exciting games of the year. Both teams were up to the test.鈥�
The Cobras have had a great season so far, Hembling said.
鈥淭his coming week will be a tough week though for the team,鈥� he said. The team has three games scheduled in a short span. They were to play in Preeceville on this evening (January 13) and then will play host to Preeceville on Friday. The Cobras are scheduled to go back on the road on Saturday to play in Esterhazy.
鈥淭he team has really worked hard this season and it shows with their record,鈥� Hembling said. 鈥淭he team has put in the time and effort at practices. Their resiliency, grit and determination in the games is what has made them successful this year.鈥�
