Terry Korol of Canora is a long-time supporter of The Great Trail, and has continued to enjoy it recently as the weather has warmed up.

“When spring arrives, I drive along The Great Trail from Canora to the Donwell North Church,” said Korol. “In the past three years I have repaired two posts and fixed the markers on three of them. The roads are quite scenic and I have met people on bicycles and on horseback. The trail uses the grid road to cross the Whitesand River.”

While doing some cleanup work along the trail this spring, Korol picked up a dozen plastic containers and 76 aluminum cans. He encourages area residents to enjoy the trail but also keep it clean.

“At present there are about 12 unknown items off the road, but some grades are too difficult to climb.”

Korol joined the Trans Canada Trail in 1995, which was later renamed The Great Trail. He sold trail certificates in Canora, Kamsack and Yorkton. He received a Trail Building Certificate in 1995, followed by a Trail Visionary Certificate and Parks Canada Discovery Pass in 2017.
