聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 Canora Composite School golf club members hosted a successful golf tournament on September 19.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The tournament, which was held at the Canora Golf and Country Club, brought in 68 golfers from 12 schools in the Canora area. The golfers competed in six categories depending on grade.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 In the Grade 7 boys category, Ashtyn Shields from Esterhazy High School won first place, with Clay Sleeva from Canora Composite School and Walker Niire from Esterhazy High School winning second and third places respectively.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ella Kozak from Columbia School was the first-place winner of the Grade 7 girls category. Abby Wilson, a Canora Composite School student, placed second.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 In the Grade 8 boys category, two Kamsack Comprehensive Institute (KCI) students, Curtis McGriskin and Aiden Broda, won first place and second place respectively. Following them was Shea Peterson from Sturgis Composite High School in third place.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 In the Grade 8 girls category, Saryn Leson of Canora Composite School placed first with Star Sheppard of Macdonald School placing second.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Cody Hort of Preeceville School won first place in the Grade 9 boys category. Two Yorkton Regional High School students, Jon Hedley and Fayden Granyk, placed second and third respectively.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 In the Grade 9 girls category, Sadie McGriskin of KCI won first place, Kylie Severson of Melville Comprehensive School won second, and Shaelyn David of KCI won third.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Dustin Nielson, who organized the tournament with Curtis Baillie, has no other plans for tournaments but hopes to have another fun day of golfing in the spring since the tournament was well-received.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淚t was a windy and cold day but the kids battled through it. They really enjoyed the golf course,鈥 Nielson said.
