聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 The Canora Arts Council will be renewing its Stars for Saskatchewan concert series for the 2016/2017 season. Thanks to the efforts of volunteers and council members, four concerts will be shown at Canora Composite School.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The series will begin on October 26 with a performance by Lisa Brokop. Brokop is one of the most nominated and award-winning female vocalists in Canadian country music history, a release from the Canora Arts Council said.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The concert will feature both hits from country music鈥檚 past and several of Brokop鈥檚 own songs in what the Arts Council calls 鈥渁n incredible musical journey.鈥 Several hits from Patsy Cline鈥檚 career, such as Walkin鈥 After Midnight, I Fall to Pieces, Sweet Dreams and Crazy will be played along with Brokop鈥檚 pieces, such as Better Off Broken.

The band consists of Christopher Arruda (the 鈥榣ion鈥), Cory Woodward (the 鈥榖ear鈥) and Ryan McMahon (the 鈥榝ox鈥), and features a wide variety of musical genres, from stompy blues to rock grooves to folk songs, the release said.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The penultimate performance will be one by Eric Harper on February 6. Harper is an award-winning flamenco guitarist that the Arts Council calls 鈥渕elodically entrancing, virtuosically ferocious and harmonically soul-stirring to the core.鈥
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The performance is a blend of rock and flamenco and will feature songs from The Best of Eric Harper, A Very Timely Christmas, Rompera Madrugada and Ribeira.

The performance, which will take place on February 23, will feature a fusion of Andean Mountain instrumental pieces with Latin rhythm and melodies. Andino Suns鈥 members hail from Regina, but their family heritage traces back to Santiago, Chile.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The band has been performing in music festivals across Canada since 2013, and one of their albums, It鈥檚 Time to Rise, was nominated for World Recording of the Year at the Western Canadian Music Awards.
