After decades of dedicated support from Canora and area residents for Kinsmen Radio and TV Bingo, the Yorkton Kinsmen Club responded with a $50,000 donation to the Canora Aquatic Park Project on March 31. Barry Novak, Club representative, made the donation at the existing Canora swimming pool, the proposed site of the Aquatic Park. Upon hearing of the new Canora Aquatic Park project, the Yorkton Kinsmen Club reached out to Aaron Herriges. Canora director of leisure services, for more information. After receiving a sponsorship package, it didn鈥檛 take long for the Kinsmen to make a major donation.

Barry Novak, Kinsmen representative, said Canora and area residents have been faithful supporters for close to half-a-century.

Over the past 40-plus years, Canora has been our biggest rural retailer for Kinsmen TV and Radio bingo,鈥 said Novak. 鈥淩esidents from Canora and the surrounding area consistently purchase a significant amount of bingo cards per week.鈥

Novak said they are making a conscious effort to support the rural region outside of Yorkton in worthy projects.
鈥淧eople from a large area will make the drive to Canora to take advantage of this new swimming facility which includes zero entry and two different water slides,鈥 observed Novak.

Mayor Mike Kwas expressed gratitude and appreciation for the financial support.

鈥淚t鈥檚 a great start to our campaign for donations,鈥 said Kwas. 鈥淗opefully this will lead to many more.鈥

In addition to the Canora project, Yorkton Kinsmen Club has recently supported new swimming pools in Langenburg and Churchbridge, as well as playground construction in Wadena, Yorkton and Saltcoats.

"The Kinsmen Club鈥檚 support of this endeavour shows their commitment to giving back to communities that support them and their initiatives,鈥 said Herriges. 鈥淲e couldn't be happier to have them part of this amazing project. We feel this is a huge first step and momentum builder to towards our goal. We've already seen more donations coming in since. We'll announce them in the coming weeks. For any questions regarding making a donation contact the Leisure Services office."
