Canada 150 celebrated at Endeavour

The village of Endeavour welcomed everyone to help them celebrate Canada 150 on September 3. The community rallied together to host various fun games for children that included a sack race, egg relay, three-legged race, potato race and hop scotch.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Larry Buchinski was the announcer for the afternoon.

There were 15 entries in the car show-and-shine event. Pete Stachiw had a horseless carriage; Gary Giesbrecht entered a 1956 Mercury; Lawrence Korney had a 1967 convertible Pontiac; Bob Knutson had a 1953 F100; Chris Czornobay had a 1988 Cavalier convertible; Phil Murrin had聽 a 1969 El Camino; Mark Jakubowski had a 1969 Charger; Robert Kowalchuk had a 1979 F100; Darcy Romanchuk had two entries, a 1969 F150 and a 1970 Ford Torino; Norman Johnson had a 1995 TransAm convertible; Richard and Agnes Gulewicz had a 1967 Meteor; Rodney Daschuk had a 2013 Mustang California Special; Kyle Daschuk had a 1972 Buick GS, and Jason Romanchuk had a 1983 Mustang.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 A popcorn and concession stand was ready to treat everyone who had a sweet tooth.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Horseshoes and a slo-pitch game, balloon art and face painting was also featured. Rae Rosenkerr supplied horse-drawn wagon rides.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 In a turkey dart throw competition, 10 turkeys and two 40-ounce turkeys were won.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 In the jam-and-jelly contest, Edie Belesky was the winner in the strawberry jam category while Marge Reynolds won the raspberry and rhubarb categories.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 In the jelly category, Marge Reynolds won the chokecherry and strawberry jelly category and Terisa Wiwcharuk won the raspberry jelly category. Overall winners were Marge Reynolds for most entries, and Viola Hearn received second place for three entries. Kathy Ambrose and Peter Wolfmueller were the judges.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 There were 10 silent auction items up for sale, photographs from Endeavour's past were displayed and birthday cake was served.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 A pig roast supper that fed 375 individuals was followed by entertainment and fireworks that concluded the celebrations.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Entertainment was provided by the Woodland Chorus, Alecia Shuba, Hannah Gerbrandt, Jayna and Neil Anasarias and Willie and Company.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 "It was a great day with many former residents coming back," said Kathy Ambrose, one of the organizers.
