CALDER - Summer reading

The Calder Playschool has ended for another year. On Wed., May 4, 2011, the playschool students enjoyed the day with pizza, doing crafts and receiving their grad hats and diplomas.

The Calder Playschool has ended for another year. On Wed., May 4, 2011, the playschool students enjoyed the day with pizza, doing crafts and receiving their grad hats and diplomas.

The children that graduated this year were Clay Baumung, Hannah Jerg and Joel Andrews. These three students will return in the fall, along with other children. So if you have a 3 or 4 year old who would like to take part in our playschool program, phone 306-742-2167 for more information.

A Huge Thank you to Tammy Antony for doing a great job with her students at playschool.

Family and friends gathered at the Calder Hall for a memorial supper for the late Mary Mostoway.

The Calder Karate Club has finished for the year. Anyone who would like to take part in Karate this fall, phone Ron at 306-742-2050.

Calder's 100th Birthday Celebration will be held on July 30, 2011. A ball tournament will be held so phone Trevor or Nicole at 306-742-2112 to enter your team. Horseshoe will be held at the sports ground. Coffee and muffins at the Good Neighbour Centre in the morning, displays and entertainment at the Hall, Supper. Pre-book your supper tickets by July 9, 2011. Phone Village of Calder at 306-742-2158 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Email: [email protected] Calder Independent Dancers will dance after supper, Scott Corniulus, Self Walking Tour, Dance at the Calder Community Rink. Everyone welcome to attend this event.

The Calder Seniors held their whist drive on May 21, 2011. Winners were: 1st Arnold Balabuck, 2nd Virginia Wandy, 3rd Donna Fustey and Marlene Balabuck and low Mary Sobkow. Pot of Gold winners were Gordon Kahut and Lil Wozney.

The Calder Yalenka Dance Club will be starting up in September. If you have someone who would like to take part, phone Alexandra @ 306-742-4737 or Michelle @ 306-742-2023 for more information. First three lessons are free, age 3 and up are welcome to come out and have some fun.

Calder Library will be holding their Summer Reading Program. So splash on over to the Calder Library in July and August for some fun. We will be doing crafts, outside activities and snacks will be available. Hope to see you there!
