CALDER - Seniors hold whist drive

Well, the school year has started up again. The students and staff at the Calder School have a busy year. The Grade 2 to 8 students will be taking in some Track and Field meets.


Well, the school year has started up again. The students and staff at the Calder School have a busy year. The Grade 2 to 8 students will be taking in some Track and Field meets. The first one will be at Deer Park and the next one will be at Saltcoats. Hope everyone tries their best and has fun.

Calder School and staff would like to welcome Joel, Hannah, Isabel, Clay, Kyle, Devon and Taylor to Calder School.

The teaching staff at the Calder School this year is Mrs. Holtkamp, Mrs. Sobkow, Miss Towell, Miss Chorneyko, Mr. Yemen, Mrs. Balabuck, Mrs. Glute - Caretaker and Mrs. Kotzer the librarian.

The Calder Grade 5 and 6 students attended a band clinic in Yorkton. Its good to see parents and students commitment to the band program.

The Band students are selling chocolates again this year, so please help support our band students.

The Calder students, staff and parents held a Thanksgiving Dinner at the Community Hall. It was a great turn out. Thanks to all the parents for a wonderful job.

The Calder Seniors have been busy too. The Calder Seniors which celebrated those birthdays were Mildred Danylko, Virginia Wandy, Mary Sobkow, Julia Mclean, Judy Pryslak, Arnold Balabuk, Peter Wereschuk, Anna Fyck and Arthur Martinuk.

The Birthday Social also held a whist drive and here are the winners: 1st -Virigina Wandy, 2nd - Donna Fustey, 3rd - Arthur Martinuk, low went to Margie Mankish.

The pot of gold winners were Judy Pryslak and Anna Fyck.

The winners of the last few whist drives are as follows: 1st - Margie Mankish, 2nd - Peter Wereschuk, 3rd - Arnold Balabuk and Lil Wozney, low went to Marie Rohatensky. The pots of gold winners were Lil Wozney and Margie Mankish.

On Sept. 8, 2012 the Calder Seniors held their whist drive and these are the winners: 1st - Ann Mostoway, 2nd - Virginia Wandy, 3rd - Ella Becker, low went to Marlene Miller and Peter Wereschuk. The pot of gold winners were Marie Rohatensky and Jack Miller.

Edwin, Karen and Amanda Antony motored to Vermilion, Alberta to drop Amanda off where she will be going to school. They also went to Edmonton, Alberta to visit with some family.

Melissa Goods is also attending school at Vermilion, Alberta. Her mother, Iris Goods and her brother Curtis helped her move her things up there for the school year.

Thank you to Norman Rapchalk for the wonderful new steps that he built for the Calder Library.

The Calder Seniors held their whist drive and the winner of the whist drive: 1st - Margie Mankish, 2nd - Lil Wozney, 3rd - Marlene Miller, and low Anna Fyck. The pot of gold winner was Margie Mankish.

The farmers in the Calder area are finished with combining and now they are doing field work, while the weather is still good.

Don and Joy Kohut are out visiting with family and friends.

Amanda Antony from Vermilion, Alberta was home for a visit on the weekend.

Well, what a wonderful turn out that we had for the Calder Annual Fall Supper which was held on Sept. 30, 2012. The Calder Rec. Board would like to thank everyone who came out to support our Supper. And another huge thank you to everyone who helped out, if it wasn't for you this wouldn't happen. We hope to see you all again next year.
