CALDER - Recent Whist Drive winners

Well, the Calder Seniors had their Whist Drive. Here are the winners of the whist drive: 1st Margie Mankish, 2nd Ann Mostoway, 3rd Peter Wereshuk and Arthur Martenuk and low went to Anna Fyck. The Pot of Gold winner was Peter Wereshuk.

Due to the snow condition, the Calder Annual Poker Derby is cancelled this year.

On March 4, 2012 the Calder Rec Board will be holding a Pancake and Sausage Breakfast at the Calder Community Rink. Breakfast starts at 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be a Raffle Prizes and free skating for everyone. So come out and have breakfast and some good company. Everyone is welcome to attend this event.

The Calder Playschool Students would like to thank everyone who bought tickets for their Valentine's Draw. The winners of the Valentine's Draw were Lonie Devins, Avery Baumung and Clay Baumung.

Get Well Wishes to Virginia Antony, who is a patient at the Yorkton Hospital.

The Community was sad to here that William Peleshytyk has passed away. Our sympathy goes out to the Peleshytyk families.

The Calder Blues Hockey team has had a few home games at the Calder Community Rink.

Eddie, Karen and Amanda Antony, along with Herb Harper travelled to Edmonton to visit with Martha Harper, who is a patient at the University Hospital.

Thank you to Alvin Harper who drove my parents to Edmonton when my mom first got admitted to the hospital.

The Calder Yalenka Dancers are busy for the next three weekends. The Dance Club will be dancing at the Eagle Stone Nursing Home and the Nursing Home at the Hospital in Kamsack, Roblin Nursing Home and Folk a Rama in Roblin. The Calder Yalenka Dance Club danced for the Women on Snowmobiles in Langenburg. The Club had a great time entertaining for the ladies and their guests.

The Calder School Students will be starting swimming lessons on Feb. 29, 2012.

Mrs. Sobkow, Mrs. Holtkamp and Mr. Trevor Baumung attended an archery training workshop at Columbia School. The archery session was arranged by Darren Wandy. The instructors were Darren Wandy, Rod Steciuk and Brad Cameron.

Trevor Baumung, Mrs. Sobkow and Mrs. Holtkamp look forward to teach the Calder Students all about the techniques and safety of archery.

The Calder Students and teachers along with family members enjoyed their trip to the Asessippi Ski Hill.

Kathleen Antony, Dave Stupak and Ann Stupak motored to Edmonton, Kathleen and Dave went and visited Martha Harper at the University Hospital. They also visited with Dave's family.

The Calder Seniors held their Whist Drive on Feb. 25, 2012 at the Calder Good Neighbour Centre. The winners of the whist driver are as follows: 1st Donna Fustey, 2nd Marge Mankish, 3rd Judy Pryslak and low went to Pete Wereschuk. The Pot of Gold winners were Virginia Wandy and Mildred Danylko.

On Sun., Feb. 16, 2012, the Calder Seniors held their Birthday Social.

The winners of the whist drive are as follows: 1st Marlene Miller, 2nd Marge Mankish, 3rd Lil Wozny and low went to Jim Fustey. The Pot of Gold winners were Marlene Balabuk and Lil Wozny.

Happy Birthday wishes to Ella Becker and Norm Wozny and who ever else had birthdays in February.
