Well it looks like spring is finally here. We still have a lot of snow but it is melting very fast.
April Rohatensky of Calgary, along with Madison Rohatensky of Calgary, motored to Calder to bring Marie Rohatensky home. Marie Rohatensky had been spending the winter months with her children in Calgary and Kelowna, BC.
The Calder Seniors held their Invitational Whist Drive. The winners were as follows: 1st-Peter Swerhum of Calder, 2nd-Ruth Zorn of Langenburg, 3rd-Cedric Van Drecht of Churchbridge, 4th-Anna Fyck of Calder & low-Peter Wereschuk of Calder. Door prize winner was Ewald Hautz of Langenburg. Pot of Gold winners were: 1st-Cedric Van Drecht of Churchbridge, 2nd-Caroline Sveinbjonson of Churchbridge & 3rd-Lil Wozney of Calder.
The winners of the Silent Auction were as follows: 1st-Debbie Pryslak of Yorkton, 2nd-Bob Linton of Calder, 3rd-Elsie Baumung of Roblin, 4th-Glen Yaroski of Calder, 5th-Kendra Busch of Calder, 6th-Norman Wozney of Calder, 7th-Mildred Danylko of Calder, 8th-Kendra Busch of Calder, 9th-Vivian Richels of Churchbridge, 10th-Bertha Putland of Churchbridge, 11th-Elsie Baumung of Roblin & 12th-Mildred Danylko of Calder.
The Calder Seniors held their Whist Drive on April 9, 2011 at the Good Neighbour Centre. The winners of the whist drive were as follows: 1st-Mary Sobkow, 2nd-Arnold Balabuk, 3rd-Mildred Danylko, low-Marie Rohatensky & Jim Fustey. The Pot of Gold winners were Lil Wozney & Marjory Mankish.
The Calder Yalenka Independent Dancers took part in the Russell Yachminka Dance Competition on April 8, 9 & 10.
Amanda Antony & Kalandra Haas received a gold medal in their Poltavski Duet on Friday.
On Saturday morning the girls did their Transcarpathian Duet Female and received a silver medal for that dance.
Katelyn Haas did her Bukovina Solo and received a gold medal.
The next dance Amanda Antony and Kalandra Haas did their Hutzul Duet Female; and received a gold medal in this dance.
Kalandra Haas did her Hutzul Solo and received a silver medal.
The next dance that Amanda Antony and Kalandra Haas did was their Volyn Duet Femal; they received a silver medal for that dance.
Katelyn Haas and Kalandra did their Character Duet Female and received gold medal.
On Sunday morning Katelyn Haas did her Volyn Solo Female and received a gold medal.
The next competition the girls will be taking part in will be held in Dauphin on April 30, 2011.
The Calder Seniors held their March and April Birthday Social on April 10, 2011.
Birthdays that were in March and April were for the following people: Lil Wozney, Marie Rohatensky, Gordon Kahut, James Fustey and Marjory Mankish.
