Family, friends and classmates shared in the celebration of 18 Preeceville School graduates on May 18, when awards and scholarships were presented at the graduation exercises at the Preeceville Skating Arena.
Kent Seerey and Leslea Hanson introduced the graduates as they were escorted by their parents into the arena.
Janhia Irlandez sang O Canada, accompanied by graduates and audience members.
Graduate Britney Vewchar gave the valedictory address.
Graduate Brandon Dyky introduced the guest speaker, Chris Balyski.
Graduate Britney Vewchar gave the Student Representative Council presentation which was accepted by Kaylee Walker.
The awards and scholarships were introduced by Arlene Prestie.聽聽聽聽
"The awards and scholarships presented to the graduates have been made possible by local businesses and families who wish to honour them by recognizing their accomplishments and investing in their post-secondary ventures.鈥
The recipients of the awards were selected based on applications that the students submitted, and the criteria outlined by the scholarship sponsors.
Graduate Jesse Antonichuk received the Preeceville Economic Development Committee Scholarship of $200.
Graduate Sylvan Klebeck received the Gateway Co-op scholarship for $200. Klebeck also received the Preeceville Firefighter scholarship for $100 and the science subject medal.
Graduate Brandon Dyky received the Canora and Sturgis Detachment $300 Scholarship. Dyky also was presented the Tonn Farm's Zimmer Memorial. The bursary was established in memory of Ed Zimmer who was a special person to the Tonn family.
Graduate Stephanie Johnson received the Simpson Memorial bursary for $250. Tonn Farms established the bursary in honour to their friend Bill Simpson who was a person with many strengths, talents, a big heart and love for the outdoors. Johnson also received the Crossroads Credit Union scholarship for $500, and subject medals for, Math, Social Studies and English Language Arts.
Graduate Britney Vewchar received the School Community Council scholarship for $250. Vewchar also received the Preeceville Hospital Auxiliary scholarship for $300 and the Endeavour Home and School scholarship.
Graduate Natasha Lingl was presented with the Preeceville and District Lioness Most Improved Award with a medal and $200.
Graduate Brie Gardner received the Preeceville Ambulance Award of Merit for $500. Gardner also received the Preeceville Lion's Club scholarship for $500.
Graduate Coleman Metherell was the other recipient of the second Preeceville Lion's scholarship for $500.
Graduate's Jesse Antonichuk and Matthew Fenske each received the Practical Applied Arts subject medal.
Graduate Jesse Johnson received a Physical Education subject medal.
The Governor General's Academic Medal and the W.H. Downs Memorial Scholarship were awarded to 2017 graduate Connor Novak. Mark Forsythe, Superintendent of Education for the GSSD, made the presentation.
Doug King, principal; Kent Seerey, vice-principal, and Forsythe presented graduates with scrolls.
The program concluded with a grand march by graduates and their escorts.
