Area students share in more that $75,000 worth of scholarships at Parkland College

Last week, Parkland College announced that a number of area students are among the 68 to share in more than $75,000 worth of the internal spring scholarships.

聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 Last week, Parkland College announced that a number of area students are among the 68 to share in more than $75,000 worth of the internal spring scholarships.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 These awards are in addition to approximately $114,500 in entrance scholarships handed out in September. Including the spring scholarships value, more than $190,000 have been awarded awarded in the 2015-16 academic year, which is just shy of Parkland College鈥檚 record amount, set last year. The College has now given out more than $100,000 in scholarships in five consecutive academic years dating back to 2011-12.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Canora recipients were: Cecilia Keinick, Clay Serby Saskatchewan Innovation and Opportunity Community Service $1,000 scholarship; Jordan St. Mars, McMunn and Yates Dollars for Scholars $1,000 award; Richele Derkach, Gateway Co-operative Limited Saskatchewan Innovation and Opportunity $500 scholarship; Willow Koroluk, Good Spirit REDA Saskatchewan Innovation and Opportunity Entrepreneurship $1,500 scholarship; and Nicole Burym, Town of Canora Saskatchewan Innovation and Opportunity $1,000 community

scholarship.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 From Buchanan, Heather Sorestad won a Yorkton Chamber of Commerce Saskatchewan Innovation and Opportunity $1,000 scholarship.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 From Invermay, Paige Fogg, won a R.G. Combe V.C. Royal Canadian Legion No. 61 (Melville) Saskatchewan Innovation and Opportunity $1,000 scholarship.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 From Kamsack, recipients were: Teala Macek, Louis Dreyfus Commodities Saskatchewan Innovation and Opportunity $1,000 scholarship in agriculture; and Jarrin Musqua, Town of Kamsack Saskatchewan Innovation and Opportunity $1,000 community scholarship.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 From Togo, Caitlyn Fatteicher won a Dollars for Scholars $1,000 award for health care students.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 From Preeceville, Reid Balawyder won a Louis Dreyfus Commodities Saskatchewan Innovation and Opportunity $1,000 scholarship in power engineering.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 From Sturgis, Rebecca Stoudt won a Town of Canora Saskatchewan Innovation and Opportunity $1,000 community scholarship.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 These awards are made possible through the generosity of local businesses, organizations, community members, College staff, and sponsors and participants in the annual Dollars for Scholars Golf Classic, said a release from the College.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Eligible post-secondary awards are matched by funds from the Ministry of Advanced Education鈥檚 Saskatchewan Innovation and Opportunity Scholarship program. Funds are provided on a dollar-for-dollar matching basis, as available, with local non-government donors.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Students interested in learning more about the scholarships available at Parkland College are encouraged to visit scholarships.parklandcollege.sk.ca. Entrance scholarships for students beginning Parkland College programs this fall will be awarded in September.
