聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 Avid archers were encouraged to aim at numerous 3D archery targets near Preeceville on August 19 and 20.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 "The shoot attracted 100 archers from across the area that included Regina, Saskatoon, Yorkton, Hudson Bay, Canora, as well as Preeceville and Sturgis local area," said Brad Cameron.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Archers had the opportunity to walk two courses, with 20 3D targets each with its own challenges. Targets were set up in realistic settings. The types of targets included: bear, turkey, wild boars, panther, cougars, elk, deer, moose, antelope, buffalo, a mosquito and an alligator.聽 New targets added this year were four dinosaurs which were sponsored by the Sturgis Kinsmen and a caribou and an elk sponsored by the Sturgis Archery Club.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 There was an iron buck novelty shoot that featured archers shooting at an iron outline of a buck at different distances. Brynn Babiuk won the 13 years-old and under category with 25 shooters participating. In the adult category, Steven Geistlinger won first out of 18 shooters. Geistlinger shot the iron buck at 50 yards and Babiuk shot at the 25-yards line.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Preeceville Archery Products sponsored the event.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 "The wind was up for both days and made for many difficult close shots at the iron buck," said Trisha Kosheluk, organizer. 鈥淎ll shooters did great under the windy conditions.鈥
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Prizes that winners had the option to pick from were鈥 a Moosberg rifle package; Savage 410/22; a 12-gauge shotgun; a primo turbo outdoor knife; a trail camera and security box and binoculars or a scope.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 A steak supper concluded the shoot on Saturday evening.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Prior to handing out medals, Brad Cameron acknowledged Mark Huska for using his land for the shoot, archers who participated, sponsors, the Sturgis Archery Club members and individuals who helped with kitchen, registration and shuttle services.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Preeceville Archery Products, a major sponsor, was in attendance both days offerings assistance on bows and arrows to shooters.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 "We want to thank Mark Huska for allowing the club to host the shoot for the past three years on his land," said Cameron. Next year the shoot will be moved to the Sturgis Sportsgrounds on August 18 and 19.
Amanda Masley and Kim Ryczak were co-chairs for this years 3D shoot.
He also conducted a live auction that sold the older animal targets of a bear and a deer.
Trudy Halvorson won the silent auction raffle of a children's digger donated by Ken's Mobile Welding. Mikayla Babichuk won the children's raffle. Dallas Hydamaka won the 50/50 prize.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Medals were handed out for first to third place in men's, women's and junior categories.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 In the youth categories, peewee female division for a two-day total of 663, Cierra Bocking won gold. Other competitors were Maggie Bartel and Allie Babiuk.
In the male division, Parker Ryczak won gold with 609 points. Trae Peterson won silver with 592 points and Gasper Thomas won bronze with 566 points.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Jordan Makowsky in the junior recurve division won gold with 605 points.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 In the pre-cub division, male category, Wyatt Mastrachuk won gold with 706 points, Kaiden Masley won silver with 683 points and Matthew Makowsky won bronze with 682 points.
In the female category, Payton Sorgen won gold with 660 points. Zoe Thomas won silver with 398 points and Quirin Nelson won bronze with 254 points.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 In the cub compound category, male division, Shae Peterson won gold with 675 points, Hudson Bailey won silver with 574 points and Trever Geistlinger won bronze with 407 points.
In the female division, Brynn Babiuk won gold with 612 points, Skylar Yurkiw won silver with 563 points and Kylie Babiuk won bronze with 475 points..
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 In the cadet division, male category, Carter Masley won gold with 732 points and Chase Fink-Helfrick won silver with 628 points. In the female category, Sydney Kidder won gold with 405 points, Tristen Newcombe won silver with 400 points and Mikayla Babichuk won bronze with 113 points.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 In the hunter division, female category, Leanne Yurkiw won gold with 572 points, Jessica Szeles won silver with 569 points and Tracey Werner won bronze with 505 points.
In the male category, Ryan Karapita won gold with 732 points, Dean Bocking won silver with 648 points and Bret Sorgen won bronze with 630 points.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 In the junior compound, male division, Steven Geistlinger won gold with 680 points, Kholton Shewchuk won silver with 595 points and Noah Tonn won bronze with 324 points.
In the female division, Dana Bocking won gold with 448 points, Samantha Panto won silver with 239 points and Brooke Huska won bronze with 272 points.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 In the bow hunter open division, male category, Dallas Hydamaka won gold with 759 points, Kirk Sandercock won silver with 755 points and Cole Sadercock won bronze with 726 points. In the female category, Belinda Bocking won gold with 468 points.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Dave Bailey won a gold medal in the master 50 traditional division with 355 points.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 In the master compound 50 division, Brad Cameron won gold with 706 points, Miles Pearce won silver with 701 points and Kevin Yurkiw won bronze with 256 points.
