Anglican priests leave Kamsack and Canora parishes

听 听 听 听 听 听 The two priests who have looked after the needs of Anglican parishioners in this area for the past eight years left the community last week.

听听听听听听听听听听听 Rev. Kim Salo and his wife Rev. Susan Salo, who have been the canon missioners for the Pelly Deanery, have moved to Prince Albert, Rev. Nancy Brunt of Kamsack, said, explaining that the Pelly Deanery includes the communities of Kamsack, Canora, Saltcoats, Churchbridge, Esterhazy, Yorkton and Melville.

听听听听听听听听听听听 During the next one to two years while the deanery seeks a successor, Brunt will be the priest for the area, excepting Melville where Rev. Kim Sherwin, a Lutheran minister will work with parishioners.

听听听听听听听听听听听 鈥淚鈥檒l be conducting three services a month in the Whitesand parish, which includes Kamsack and Canora,鈥 Brunt said, adding that she will conduct a service at the Kamsack church on the first Sunday of the month, and will be at Kamsack and Canora on the third Sunday. On the fourth Sunday she will be in the New Sumner parish which includes the communities of Churchbridge, Saltcoats and Esterhazy and will alternate services in each of those communities.

听听听听听听听听听听听 鈥淲e鈥檒l also get help from the synod office in Regina, Rev. Deacon Luanne Hrywkiw of Yorkton will assist with services in Yorkton when needed and local lay leaders will help out,鈥 she said.

听听听听听听听听听听听 Estimating that at least two positions at the lab must be filled, Wiwcharuk said that the health region is trying its best and wants to avoid service interruptions.

听听听听听听听听听听听 鈥淲e have intensified our recruitment efforts,鈥 she said.
