On August 13, Kamsack RCMP was called to a residence on the Cote First Nation to a report of an unresponsive female, said a release from the RCMP dated Friday.
Police and Kamsack EMS attended the scene where a 20-year-old female from the community was pronounced deceased.
Morgan Cote, a 34-year-old male, also from the Cote First Nation, was arrested on September 1 and charged with second degree murder in relation to the death and he made his first court appearance Friday.
Cote has been remanded in custody and was to make his next court appearance on Tuesday at Kamsack Provincial Court.
The police had been called to the Cote residence at 6:45 a.m. on August 13, the release said. Assisting in the investigation were RCMP Major Crimes Unit 小蓝视频, Yorkton GIS (General Investigative Section), Yorkton Forensic Identification Section and the Office of the Chief Coroner. An autopsy was held August 15 at Pasqua Hospital in Regina.
