The most urgent restoration work at Yorkton Regional High School has been completed and the facility will open as scheduled on August 30.
The question of the school's opening hinged on the clean-up of its air handling system, which was contaminated during the July 1 flood. If the work was not completed by mid-August, a delay in the school year was likely.
"Actually, we were a little bit ahead of schedule," said Superintendent of Schools Withman Jaigobin.Air quality tests performed last week confirmed that the facility is ready to go.
Other work completed over the summer included the refinishing and sealing of the water-damaged gymnasium floor.
Replacement of other equipment not required at the school's initial opening, including the heating system, should be finished by mid-September.
