Early in 2010, the Saskatchewan Council of Archives and Archivists, of which the City of Yorkton Archives holds membership participated in a postcard gathering project.

The project entitled Wish you were here: Saskatchewan Postcard Collection was produced by the University of Saskatchewan Archives, and is a collaborative effort of eleven archives throughout the province. They are: Archives of Humbolt and District; City of Saskatoon Archives; City of Yorkton Archives; Diefenbaker Canada Centre Archives; Prince Albert Historical Society Archives; Rosetown Centennial Library and Archives; Saskatoon Public Library Local History Room; Saskatchewan Archives Board; University of Regina Archives and Special Collections; University of Saskatchewan Archives; and the University of Saskatchewan Library Special Collections.

The web site was established to provide a tool to researchers and for the interest of the general public. Postcards are important historical artifacts, a unique way used to communicate when images were important to demonstrate or enhance the brief written message.
