Statistics Canada released the November 2010 wholesale trade statistics today, which show that Saskatchewan sales increases were among the highest in the nation.
Wholesale trade increased by 9.6 per cent between October 2010 and November 2010, the second highest increase among the provinces (seasonally adjusted). According to the report, Saskatchewan had the highest month-over-month increase in the west and the fourth gain in five months. On a year-over-year basis, Saskatchewan had an 18.9 per cent increase, the third highest percentage increase in the nation.
"Agricultural supply products were in demand last November and contributed to the increase," Enterprise Minister Jeremy Harrison said. "There has been a steady improvement in wholesale trade in recent months, signaling our economy's continued strength and movement toward a very bright future."
Nationally, wholesale trade numbers were up only 1.2 per cent between October 2010 and November 2010, and only 6.6 per cent on a year-over-year basis.
