Water pipeline upgrades

The Governments of Canada and Saskatchewan are investing $75,972 to upgrade the rural water pipeline at Good Spirit Lake in the Rural Municipality of Good Lake, through the Building Canada initiative.

"Our Government is proud to contribute to this project, which will provide more residents of Canora Beach with a safe and reliable water supply," said MP Garry Breitkreuz. "The funding will meet infrastructure needs, support economic growth and stimulate the local economy."

Upgrades to the pipeline include twinning 2.5 miles of an existing three-inch rural water pipeline to meet anticipated demand over the next few years. The Governments of Canada and Saskatchewan will each invest $37,986 in this project. The Rural Municipality of Good Lake will contribute the balance of the funding for an estimated total project cost of $113,960.

"The province is proud to partner with municipalities and the federal government on the expansion of the Canora Beach rural water pipeline expansion project," Municipal Affairs Minister Darryl Hickie said. "More subscribers on this pipeline means better services to residents and businesses and more opportunities for the area and Saskatchewan to grow and develop."

This project is just one example of the commitment of both governments to strengthen the Saskatchewan economy and improve the quality of life for its residents. The Governments of Canada and Saskatchewan have taken steps to advance projects and flow money faster for targeted infrastructure projects in Saskatchewan communities in the 2010 construction season.
