SASKATOON — Wanuskewin Heritage Park was the site of the Buffalo Treaty signing on Friday, July 15.At the end of the International Bison Convention on July 12-15.
The Buffalo Treaty is a document signed by various parties as their commitment to helping preserve and restore the animal that has significant ties to the culture of First Nations.
Indigenous Peoples living on the plains use the buffalo as a source for their food and other raw materials. They consider the animal sacred, treating them with respect to ensure their abundance and longevity.
