A two-year stretch without a collective agreement for the province's health workers may finally see an end with the announcement of a tentative deal between the three major health provider unions and the Saskatchewan Association of Health Organizations.
A press release from the CUPE Health Care Council, the Service Employees International Union, and the Saskatchewan Government and General Employees Union last week revealed a four-year deal fully retroactive to April 1, 2008.
Further details are expected to be released once the unions' members hold ratification votes on the agreement. The ratification process is expected to conclude within 60 days.
About 25,000 healthcare workers in a wide variety of positions are affected by the agreement.
