Unidentified witnesses stop robbery

Yorkton City RCMP are seeking two suspects and two witnesses in an attempted mugging that occurred last week. The incident happened at around 9:15 pm on Monday, January 24 in thte parking lot of a business on the 200 block of Broadway Street East.

The incident happened at around 9:15 pm on Monday, January 24 in thte parking lot of a business on the 200 block of Broadway Street East. A man held a 35-year-old woman at knifepoint, but fled when confronted by two bystanders. The victim was left uninjured.

The suspect is described as a First Nations man between 5'10" and 6' tall with a heavy build and "acne-like complexion." He left the scene in a dark-colored older-style four-door vehicle. A female passenger, said to be a heavy-set First Nations woman about 5'4" tall, rode in the car with the suspect.

Sgt. Sheri-Lynne Fedorowich of the Yorkton Municipal Detachment says she hopes the two witnesses who intervened will come forward to help identify the suspect and his accomplice.

"At this point, we just need their assistance and their accounts of what they saw on the evening in question, and we'll go from there."

The sergeant would not comment on the actions of the two bystanders, but encouraged those who witness a crime to report it to police.
