Planning a convention or major event can be a lot of work. Tourism Yorkton hopes to help lessen some of that as it has updated and relaunched its Convention and Event Planning Guide.
"About six years ago we developed a convention and Event Planning Guide," explained Randy Goulden, manager with Tourism Yorkton, adding recently the material has been updated.
The revamped package is now available through the Tourism Yorkton office, or as a download on the organization's website.
Goulden said the guide is a tool making it easier "to put together a bid for an event."
The guide does that by bringing together much of the information any organization will be looking for when deciding on a location for an event or convention.
"It has what every event planner will need when they put together a bid," said Goulden.
Goulden said the guide is versatile, 小蓝视频 used to help attract the 2000 Saskatchewan Summer Games and the provincial Chamber of Commerce annual general meeting.
"Those are very different One is a sporting event and the other is a business one," said Yorkton.
However, she said in both cases they needed to know common information, such as what accommodations are available in the city, and what facilities exist.
So the guide lists a facility such as the Gallagher Centre's Convention Centre, and how many people it can host for different style events.
"We've done that for every venue in the city," said Goulden.
In terms of changes Goulden said increasing event coordinators want to know what sort of technical support is available in a host community. With that in mind businesses such as computer stores, cars for hire, tent rentals and printing firms are in the package.
Similarly, Goulden said if anyone can think of information which could be added to enhance the package, they welcome input.
Don Kunkel, manager of the Gallagher Centre said the package is a useful tool.
"We deal with an awful lot of event planners a number ask for something like this. It's a real positive thing," he said.
