Thanks to cash donations from staff, and generous contributions from several businesses in Yorkton, dozens of Parkland College students from throughout the region received a food hamper just in time for Thanksgiving.
Earlier this month, students were able to be nominated to receive a hamper filled with food items such as canned vegetables, soup, pasta, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and pumpkin pie. A total of 65 students from Yorkton, Melville, Kamsack, and Fort Qu'Appelle received a hamper for the holiday.
College employees donated close to $900 to fill the hampers. Meanwhile, Legacy Co-op in Yorkton provided reusable bags and a $500 gift card to spend on food. Save-On-Foods, Superstore, Giant Tiger, and Canadian Tire also donated gift cards and supplies to help with this giveaway.
