The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) is celebrating 40 years of providing service to Canadians through the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP). Since 1971, CRA has worked with community volunteers to help people complete their income tax and benefit returns.
CRA offers free training sessions to volunteer community organizations and individuals across the country to teach them how to complete basic income tax and benefit returns for others. We are looking for volunteers to provide this important community service to individuals who have low incomes and simple tax situations.
A basic understanding of how to complete a tax return and experience using a computer is beneficial. As a volunteer you must also be willing to be linked to a community organization. We are currently seeking volunteers in numerous communities and are in need of organizations willing to assume a leadership role.. As a volunteer, you will meet other people like you, who want to lend a hand at tax time.
The ReginaTax Services Office is offering free training sessions throughout southern Saskatchewan during the month of February including, Yorkton, Ochapowace First Nation and the Touchwood Agency Tribal office (Punnichy).
