Communities, businesses and individual property owners experiencing flood damage from this year's severe weather are reminded that the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program (PDAP) is still accepting claims.
According to PDAP administrators, damage resulting from flooding may only become apparent now, and other potential claimants may not have filed for assistance because of their understanding that claims would not be accepted after the six-month deadline.
"PDAP claims are still 小蓝视频 accepted on a case-by-case basis, and we urge those who have not filed yet to do so," Corrections, Public Safety and Policing Minister D.F. (Yogi) Huyghebaert said. "We encourage timely applications so that a complete and accurate assessment of the damage can be made. That way, claimants are assured they receive all the assistance they are eligible for."
Since this summer, PDAP has received nearly 5,000 claims for disaster assistance and made more than 3,200 payments for a a total cost of around $11.51 million. More than 200 municipalities have been declared eligible for disaster assistance under PDAP, and it is estimated that the total cost of financial assistance to PDAP claimants will be between $40 and $45 million.
The Provincial Disaster Assistance Program provides eligible communities and residents assistance for damage caused by natural disasters.
